She could’ve had any wedding dress in the world, after all, she’s worth $31 Billion! But no, passionate horse rider Marta Ortega will be a Zara bride! Congratulations to the young couple (Marta is getting married to Sergio Alvarez, her longtime boyfriend and fellow equestrian), blessings and happiness in their new life! (the date for the very intimate ceremony is set on February 18th ). Although official reports deny any future bridal line from Zara, the future is not yet written!

The first runway for this cause went down in 2003 and ever since, more and more stars joined the honorable Heart Truth cause: supporting the Foundation for the National Institute of Health. Hearth Truth Stars Wear Red On The Catwalk

Tuesday, February 8th 2012, Anna Wintour, 20 American designers and a handful of models occupied Theory’s store in the Meatpacking district. She co – hosted the politics cum shopping event with Scarlett Johansson (who knew she was so involved?). It all sounds couture-ish and all kinds of amazing, but I don’t understand, for the life of me, why Joan Smalls and Karolina Kurkova, who are usually so stylish and so well dressed, showed up wearing these! (it’s just an unhappy example, you’ll see Karlie Kloss and Chanel Iman right after the jump, walking, smiling fashion demonstrations!)

Anyway, Tilda Swinton continues to represent for the Italian Jeweler Pomellato (after the jump, there’s Tilda’s 2011 campaign for Pomellato’s Nude – pretty. And I mean it! And that’s not an easy attribute to label Tilda with!). She even hosted a boutique opening for Pomellato’s Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills on Monday, January 30th. Pomellato’s new ad campaign is lovely, all kinds of artsy while the Nudo Rings are pure delight. Celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, the said jewelry pieces are really versatile, all in being simple and eye catching enough to be statement accessories.

Now: there’s a fine line between hip and flop. Pale-ish, white-ish is the new color for evening wear, hence Tilda, who is a celebrated fashionista, was sporting the must wear color. All I want to know is didn’t anyone tell her she forgot to take her pajama off? It was an official event, after all!

As you well know, I’m a huge admirer of Cate Blanchett, who, each and every single time I see her, seems to be glowing from within. And that, my daahlings, is something we should all try. At least once. So here’s Cate wearing a golden Alexander McQueen dress from the Spring Summer 2012 collection. Yet another proof that not anyone can pull a certain outfit and that not anyone can wear a dress instead of being worn by the dress in question. I’m overwhelmed! If I picked up a favorite (more, even) from the white dresses wearers, even from the black dresses, I can’t really say the same about the red and blue dresses! They were either unflattering, ill-fitting, bland, or too much. I’ll try, though! Squeezing in two of the dresses I thought were really nice and the ladies who worn them fairly: Jennifer Carpenter’s red Emilio Pucci dress – refreshingly short, simple, classic cut, lovely fabric work and.. f – lawless Jennifer Carpenter! Representing in the blue corner: Meryl Streep! She’s just amazing! She has this comfy, flattering personal style and she’s sticking to it! Oh, and she’s wearing Vivienne Westwood! Back to red: there were red dresses (like Michelle Williams’s Valentino) and there were crimson, pink-ish, plum-ish dresses (like Sofia Vergara & Julie Bowen or Natalie Portman). I think the reds weren’t great (I said it with Michelle, I’m at it again) – there were few more examples of, although, flawless dresses, totally lacking appeal and glamour (and I’m thinking of Kyra Sedwick in red Emilio Pucci dress or Ahna O’Reilly whose heavily and daringly red cut dress was like an origami waiting to happen). I will say the crimson won – Dianna Agron’s crimson Carolina Herrera was lovely, very feminine and she really worn it well!

Now for the blue ones – most of them are so bad, really! I liked Jane Lynch very much – like Meryl Streep, she found her style and sticking to it! Great! Loving her blue David Meister dress! Diane Lane was lovely in blue David Meister dress too, only a very different style from Jane’s. Very Grecian, very nice. Regina King’s soft purple dress was perfect for her complexion and lovely overall. Ellie Kemper was all shimmery, Jessica Chastain’s Calvin Klein (weren’t we all waiting for her to wear something Armani?) was too simple and too blue – then again, she was in the white / pale camp for the Golden Globes, maybe she wanted something radically different this time? Oh, and Busy Philipps? Busy dress indeed! Melissa McCarthy and Jenna Fischer were representing for the ill – fitting blue dresses while Penelope Ann Miller (and Nancy Carell) should seriously consider some time off from their current stylists!

I included Shailene Woodley soft blue with red flowers dress from L’Wren Scott, Ariel Winter and Aimee Garcia’s gray dresses as well as Emily Blunt’s emerald green Oscar de la Renta. The Red And The Blue Dresses 2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet

However, since the black dresses were so well represented on the 2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet, I had to pick a best from the rest, aside from my already mentioned weaknesses. And here I go, again picking two dresses: Stacy Keibler’s black lace Marchesa and Jayma Mays black sequined Reem Acra. Sadly, although the dress is flawless and the lady herself is truly impeccable, Stacy Keibler does nothing for me. (nor does her date, d’ailleurs). Jayma Mays I think is lovely all in all and I like her smile. Reem Acra’s sequined dress is a bit too dramatic for Jayma, but looking at the rest of the black dresses, I’m relieved whenever I lay my eyes on Jayma.

Tina Fey’s Versace black dress was like a long lost twin sister of Jane Krakowski’s Antonio Berardi dress. Although beautiful in their own rights, the two dresses, together, on the same Red Carpet, were a certified sartorial fail. And talking about fail – have you seen Heather Morris’ Masai Payan? Oh, what a complicated nightmare of a dress! Glenn Close in black Zac Posen didn’t impress me at all while Ashlee Simpson’s black Jenny Packham spiderweb dress was nice. I just don’t understand what Ashlee’s doing there, that’s all (I know, I know, she’s there as “the girlfriend of…”). Oh, and is it just me, or Amber Heard is a sweeter, taller version of Scarlett Johansson? (again another Zac Posen failing to impress me). Amber Riley. Oh gurl? Whoever told you that dress looks good (on you) needs major style revisions!

If I’d had to pick a favorite, I’d definitely go for Viola Davis in Marchesa. And Zoe Saldana in Givenchy Haute Couture. Both of them took my breath away. There was even an awkward sartorial moment with Julianna Margulies and Katrina Bowden. The dresses they were wearing were heartbreakingly similar. Only they were different. Something unusual for the Red Carpet (at least lately): Rose Byrne. She was wearing a white jumpsuit from Elie Saab and her hair, she said, was inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer circa Scarface. Intriguing, isn’t it? She was wearing it well, anyway! And so was Tilda Swinton who was wearing a white draped Lanvin dress. And who was at the same table as Angelina Jolie – they were like day and night! One dressed in shiny black and the other in bridal white. Interesting!

The charming Berenice Bejo (who I’m dying to see in The Artist!) was dressed in Ralph Lauren. However, something put me off about her outfit and I can’t really put my finger on it! Can you? I could go on like this, but I’m afraid the other white wearing ladies were too bridal for my taste. There was also a handful of soft gray hues or other pale tints which were included in this “white” category: Octavia Spencer, Naya Rivera and Lea Michele are just an example of that. Also including two black & white dresses: Maya Rudolph in Naeem Khan and Emilia Clarke in Chanel.

Kelly Osbourne’s Badgley Mischka – interesting but not my kind; Kaley Cuoco’s Romona Keveza – bridal snowball; Jenna Ushkovitz’s Rebecca Minkoff white flowery – completely unflattering; Naya Rivera’s pale gray Naeem Khan dress – simple and nice; Gretchen Mol’s white L’Wren Scott dress – those golden patches ruined everything! Sarah Hyland’s white – ish Temperley London – lovely, though it reminds me of Miley Cyrus so I don’t think that’s a good sign overall; Judy Greer’s white Collette Dinnigan dress – bridal much? What I find it to be great, is that Emma Stone is the one wearing the dress, not the other way around. And that’s something worth mentioning since not everyone can handle the sartorial statement which comes under the McQueen label. I’m not a fan, personally, of this dress length (and ample skirt) – I find it to be doll – ish and, in most fashion instances, unfinished, like something’s missing. However, in this case, the shoes made one with the dress, that’s how much they fit (and that shouldn’t surprise me, the shoes too come from Alexander McQueen)!

And it was not the cut that brought the two dresses together, but the color! Both actresses were wearing crimson dresses on tonight’s Red Carpet. Julie Bowen was wearing a Temperley crimson dress while Sofia Vergara was showing off her beautiful body in a body hugging crimson Marchesa dress. Lovely ladies, lovely dresses, but I think I prefer blouson dresses on Angelina – Julie’s dress didn’t do much justice to her sporty constitution. Did it?
