Herve Leger-like bandage dresses, Versace-sques and Balenciaga-esques prints, there was too much of everything in this “new” collection. (the story continues right after the jump with more images and a video with the entire collection)

Bright colors, summer-y feelings, mini lengths and flowy pieces of fabric to create the impression of length for some dresses, everything points in a young, active direction. BCBG Max Azria is a cocktail collection for the most part, with no pants and no height compromise: tall, tall platform sandals, beautiful and comfy looking.

Simple hair and make up keep the collection to a healthy basic, almost glamour-less and street-fashion friendly. The clutch still holds the prime fashion accessory position with a significant lack of any other accessories: belts/necklaces/bracelets/head pieces.(you can see photos of the entire collection here)

The Tawaraya boxing ring bed was the work of the Memphis group (a Milan-based handful of extraordinary creative minds in furniture and product design) – that you can actually see in a photo from 1981, in the original ring bed (right after the jump!). A monochrome striped base with multicolored “ropes” and light bulbs at each of the four corners of the ring, the bed was the handy work of Masanori Umeda, a Japanese architect collaborating with Memphis at the time. It was an absolute declaration of love for the color, the use of color in design/architecture.

Karl Lagerfeld himself appreciated the feelings and the ideas of the Memphis group so he furnished his Monte Carlo apartment with them. The Tawaraya boxing ring bed caught his mind (you can’t really say that it caught his heart, who knows what makes the Kaiser tick?) so he took it. Do you think he ever slept in it? If you think fashion is something everyone (and their respective dogs) can handle, then get this: this 30 years print Prada recap (only) has 706 pages! It’s basically another way to establish fashion as a cultural institution falling only under the laws of luxury. Prada is not for everyone, and the $150 price tag is proof enough. I’d take a box of chocolates instead! What can I say, I’m a simple girl and I have simple needs. Chocolate is (soooo) good! Especially around Christmas! (via)

Before I take this to the next snobbish level, let us all join hands and dance the childhood joy dance for this is such a glamorous new dawn for Barbie! She’s getting shoes from Louboutin, the magician of all things shoes! (the story continues with more images right after the jump!)

Rumors of a red sole shoe signed Louboutin for our precious Barbie were already flying for quite a while now, however, an entire Barbie-Louboutin year was quite the unexpected! And if we take a look at red headed Barbie Louboutin (clin d’oeuil), we’re getting that it’s really beyond a single pair of stilettos! It’s an entire wardrobe of shoes affair with Mr Christian Louboutin!

Now I’m still trying to understand the point of all this “My Year in Paris” album with miniature Louboutin and miniature Paris besides the obvious Barbie’s 50th anniversary reasons. Of course we’re happy for Barbie, of course we’d want our Barbie to wear only the best clothes from the best designers. But… is it really necessary? Isn’t this luxury a bit too much pampering for a mere doll? And shouldn’t we be the ones wearing those red soles out and about? Let’s ask Monsieur Louboutin to hook up with H & M for an affordable line of red soles! Is either that or I’m protesting and not buying any Barbie Loub! And as much as I dislike skinny pants and acknowledge the discomfort produced by a tight piece of clothing with countless sequins on, I’ll have to admit I would happily open my wardrobe doors to some of Christophe Decarnin’s pieces from the Spring Summer 2010 Balmain collection! If you can get over the ripped tees, over the glittery pants and the cavewoman-ish dresses, then you’ll be into Balmain next Summer too. Because there’s simply no way of going round this collection if you’re looking for a dance party costume. There’s a problem, though – even if the mid-high heels could help your dance routine, I highly dislike them. With me it’s either skyscraper heels or no heels at all. There’s no in-between. Medium heels go wonderfully with an office outfit. Nothing to do with the club or a smashing party.

Decarnin’s woman is a militant one. There’s almost no outfit without a bullet quelquepart, a war-reminder detail, something to warn us that we’re just camping, that there’s no rest for the fashwarriers, even if they party all night long. Balmain Spring Summer 2010 is a deconstructive, war-friendly DIY glittery collection for those who want to spend in the vicinity of $20,000 for a night’s outfit. We do offer larger sizes at Versace […] . I certainly wouldn’t want to do a plus-size line, as I have no problem with women of any size wearing my clothes. I guess some styles lend themselves to being scaled up, while some others just don’t work. Sometimes it can depend on the specific piece.

Great hair, high-heeled shoes, a great jacket, and of course skintight pants. Jewelry always helps, too, just to add some sparkle.
