So I stormed into the first H & M I could find and got myself a pair of black leg warmers. Worn them long and good. And then, one year, I had this gorgeous tunic I wanted to wear for a night out. Sadly, it was too cold outside for that particular tunic. And then pop! Lightbulb! What if I’d wear my faithful black leg warmers as arm warmers? And so it started…

I kept wearing those even if people starred at me wondering if I had cut the arms off of a sweater or… All but my Adored Husband who had faith in my vision and liked my unusual leg warmers repurposing. Not only do I wear leg warmers on my (bare) arms and think they’re absolutely wonderful for cold – er weather but I think they’re great for layering down. For people like myself, who don’t like to put on an entire closet when it’s cold outside, cardi – sweater sandwich and so forth – just put your arm warmers on! And once you’re indoors, you take them out easily and you don’t have to carry a sweater on your arm for a late night drink (wink).

Anyway, long story short – I was reminded about my leg warmers turned arm warmers when I saw this pair from Maison Martin Margiela (above) in a sales announcing newsletter. That’s how I came with the idea of asking you if you ever thought about wearing them like that – or if you ever actually worn leg warmers as arm warmers (they’re really worth it, so don’t ignore them!) Anyway, in those few, rare occasions my Adored Husband takes me out for a romantic night out (sigh – daydreaming!), I get to wear (one) makeup, (two) nice clothes, (three, but only on occasion) high heels and finally (four, that too on occasions) jewelry (other than my wedding ring and my usually always the same earrings). Well, whenever (four) happens, I stack on dangling bracelets and / or hang some chandelier earrings or giant hoops and I feel more or less like Santa’s ride. I make a sound with every breath I take! But I love it (blushing).

Now about Alex and Ani (finally!) – the stack of bracelets I found as created by Carolyn Rafaelian, owner of Alex and Ani is said to focus on positive energy. What is that, anyway? Hit the jump and find out!

First thing that impressed me, beyond the beautiful design (which would normally be enough as it is) is that all the pieces of jewelry from Alex and Ani’s collections are made from recycled metals, all refined and produced in the United States! I love it that they’re made to empower and enlighten the wearer beyond their beautifying purposes!

I’m in love! I voluntarily stopped going through their website because it was just too much to handle for a stay at home mom of four! Even Christy Turlington is a fan! That’s it! Too much. And we know she likes her hair accessories big and interesting, don’t we? However, this last one doesn’t look like a classical Philip Treacy to me! Sarah Jessica Parker was wearing a hair piece strikingly similar to a necklace! Or a tiara on the side. It’s hard to classify it as I’m not really familiar with this kind of hair accessory. On the other hand, it appears to be a real trend going with necklaces worn as hair accessories – think Lady Gaga at the MTV Video Music Awards this year and some more necklaces worn as headbands I came across looking around for more on the matter (some pieces come from Dauphines Of New York, some are of unknown origin). I’m asking you straight up if you’re into this bling your hair thing because as far as I’m concerned I think I’m still stuck with the bows (wink)!

It’s up to you! Friendly or sad, Mr Button’s face is at your disposal, to make what you want / feel of it!

Who is behind Mr Button? John Caswell, a British designer based in Bristol. He sharpened his creativity at the University of Plymouth (2006) and his work has been subject of numerous competitions and exhibitions throughout the years. Take for instance another one of his playful designs is a knot door handle which was selected in a Designboom competition.

As for another favorite of mine, John Caswell’s Apron Guide is one of those cool and useful things I imagine having around the house / kitchen. Numeric conversions (those are priceless!), freezing instructions, defrosting times (loving!) cooking time for vegetables (you’ll make the envy of your invites!) and so much more (yeah, about that apron – it can be yours for app. $24!). I would also make a special note, for Halloween purposes (and more) and add the above pictured House Light to my wishlist!
