Natasha Poly Covers Vogue Nippon June 2009

Natasha Poly is one of the moments du moment, the new wave of almost-supermodels (as stated and covered by Vogue US with their Faces of the Moment issue).

But that’s not the reason I chose to bring you Vogue Nippon’s June cover with Natasha all Burberry-ed up! It’s because it’s a June cover! How irresistible is that? Talking fashion avant-time, avant June-time!

Calendar-talk aside, looking back at Natasha Poly’s Vogue Nippon cover makes me wonder if she had cramps when she posed like that for Inez and Vinoodh. It just seems unnatural. Either that, or she absolutely wanted to avoid having a big, black G on her face, Vogue Nippon’s traditional cover look! How do you like your first June 2009 cover? (photos via)

Dimitri From Paris I Am Une Very Stylish Fille

Last week it was all about Blues. Now let’s add some lounge chill to the Friday Break soup! Growing up with the supers, few things coming after rival the feeling, the first chills you got seeing those beautiful, strong, independent women making a statement in fashion.

The supers time was also Dimitri from Paris’ time. He was mixing and matching music for the word’s most famed catwalks (Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel and so on). His James Bond-ish, cartoonish, retro groove was impeccably stylish, patching the time’s sound into a full-flavored Breakfast at Tiffany’s disco-house music.

Today’s Friday Break is about being stylish and groovy, being a girl, Une Very Stylish Girl! (you can read more about the song and Dimitri from Paris right after the jump!)

W Magazine Law & Order With Daisy Lowe And Peaches Geldof

I remember a time when the catchy tagline “Le fric, c’est chic” made history alongside Studio54’s iconic personalities.

Now the Studio54 generation’s children try to make history through their tattoos, heavy partying, wrong marriages, dubious circles. Shortly, they’re trying to eat their part of the history cake by shocking everyone. (and their dog!) “Le freak c’est chic” (don’t miss the rest of the pictures right after the jump!)

The New YSL Manifesto Spring Summer 2009 With Claudia Schiffer

Claudia Schiffer is the new face of Yves Saint Laurent. Their new Manifesto Spring Summer 2009 comes out February 14th and everyone is so impatient about it, they’re eating the Manifesto teaser on toast!

It’s a much more vivid one that the last Spring Summer Manifesto we saw (with Kate Moss) and carries a specific identity since the teaser clearly shows the Hollywood iconic hills. (don’t miss the rest of the story and more images from the YSL Manifesto SS 09 after the jump!)

Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista Fighting For DSquared2 Spring Summer 2009 Ads

The nineties super girls, in all their glory! How could you not love this Spring Summer 2009 campaign from DSquared2?

Linda going from Prada to DSquared could have been strange. Only this year, (maybe due to budget cuts) Prada went for a tiles-models-lineup so I have no regrets Linda Evangelista went dueling under Steven Meisel’s lens. Her fighting Naomi has a special kind of fashion drama I could stare at for hours! (isn’t it strange to see the temperamental Naomi Campbell in such defensive positions with such calm on her face?)

Besides the obvious smart black and a white girl – contract, do you think the fashion-violence mélange is a safe one? (photos via fotodecadent)

Isla Fisher Covers InStyle UK February 2009

You remember I told you I love watching a romantic comedy from time to time…Well, one of my last ones was Definitely.. Maybe. Not your average romantic scenario but a good one nevertheless.

Starring, one of my favorite next-door-girls (plus a little extra, for her beautiful smile) is Isla Fisher. Who covers the February issue of InStyle UK magazine as the Rom-Com Queen. And after reading the few lines I got from the interview, my suspicions were confirmed – she is, indeed, a funny, smart person with her feet firmly set on the ground. (more after the jump)

Stephanie Seymour In Valentino Spring Summer 2009 Ad Campaign

I guess being a mother of four and in your 40s is reason enough to feel and look great. Now if you add Stephanie Seymour to all that, you’ve got a Supermodel looking supergreat.

She’s holding the supers front really strong with a Valentino ad campaign for their new Spring Summer 2009 Collection. Even if people were expecting something less fierce, toned and exposed, this campaign looks delicate enough for me to call it a very Valentino one. Because, to me, Stephanie is a very feminine figure, yes, strong and toned, but a woman from tip to toes and Valentino suits her wonderfully. Yes, she shoes some skin, and yes, she happens to be in a very good condition, physically, but she’s so amazingly feminine in the same time! Do you think she’s a Valentino girl? Like this campaign? On The Supers Trail – Christy Turlington For Bally Spring Summer 2009 Ad Campaign

The Supermodels Reign is far from being over. Even with the current financial crisis, fashion brands go for the sure values – supermodels.

Christy Turlington (and Oriol Elcacho) grace the Spring Summer 2009 Ad Campaign for Bally. Mario Sorrenti’s lens, Brian Atwood’s command, a Miami Beach pool and many colors, that’s the secret formula for a supposedly nonchalant look (lifestyle) promoted in this campaign. If you ask me, even if they would’ve photographed her in the Desert, Christy would’ve pumped the life in that poster! So how about it? Thrilled they still go for supers? (via wwd)
