Lagerfeld’s Dom Pérignon Rose Vintage 1996 Ads Starring Eva Herzigova
September 24th, 2008 by kpriss
Back when the Claudia Schiffer campaign for Dom Pérignon was shot, I thought you couldn’t get racier than that.
I was wrong. Given the story told by none the other but Karl the Kaiser, I suspect he was targeting Eva all along and that Claudia was a mistake, just a stand in because the real star wasn’t available. Oh well (sigh) I guess being a skeleton really pays off. However, this is Dom Pérignon Rose Vintage 1996 ad campaign with Eva Herzigova by Karl Lagerfeld.

There’s a simple story to this advertising campaign – it’s about a beautiful, young blonde woman who gets the biggest room in a hotel, stuffs it with champagne, loads of clothes, makes a shopping spree trip to Dior, gets her blonde skinny self back to the hotel, sips even more Dom Pérignon while admiring her clothes until she finally invites herself in a young man’s room, right next door to her apartment, ending up in his bed.

Of course I could be overwhelmed by the romantic story and give in to its luxurious useless feeling but then again… Today it’s not my superficial day and I’m not craving for Dom Pérignon so I will do some justice in this fuzzy picture. The campaign is explained by Karl himself (now he couldn’t let that for the voice of someone else, couldn’t he?) and as he talks you through the process of the blonde drinking champagne, shopping her brains out, dumb singing and getting completely intimate with a complete stranger just because she was bored to death and he was handsome and happened to be living next door to her.

I looked at this campaign’s pictures and I sadly said to myself that if this is luxury’s face, than I rather have my eyes starring at a sunflower picture for the rest of my day to wash that bitter feeling off. If luxury requires temporarily usage of one half of brain cell, than I’ll use those legendary 10%, every human brain uses to write an article where I’d have my say about this luxury nonsense!

I imagine there are people who indulge themselves into believing that this kind of advertising campaign reflects a beautiful life, the poetic existence of a carefree fragile beauty. Blonde beauty. I’d say it’s just rotten. To the bone, to the very computer space used for making and the storage of this campaign! Frills and thrills and chills down my spine! If you think this campaign does any justice to a healthy lifestyle and bring some moral value in this fashion world, let me hear you out! If not, and you agree with me, have your supportive word written in a comment so we could all have a style talk about this Dom Pérignon thing…

Do You Like Rihanna’s Gucci Babouska Bag?
September 23rd, 2008 by kpriss
Fashion rumor has it that the Gucci Fall Winter 2008 2009 Handbags are the new IT bags of the cold season 2008.
Even if every-fashion- person tries its heart out to convince everyone and their dog that the IT Bag is long dead, some still dare to promote must have totes. Rihanna was chosen People’s 2008 best dressed (maybe that’s why she was rumored bankrupted not long ago) so all eyes are on her. Thus she was spotted with the Babouska Bag from the Gucci fall winter 2008 2009 collection. The It collection for the It girl. The Boho Gucci Chic comes with an important price tag too: $2,295 and it’s available in beige and ebony crystal. Let’s cast them votes now (right after the pictures) : What do you think about Rihanna’s Gucci Babouska Bag? Fug Or Fab? (there’s a picture of the Gucci Babouska Bag after the jump)
Kate Moss Self Portrait In Blood And Lipstick!
September 23rd, 2008 by kpriss
Who needs blood when you’ve got lipstick? Now that’s an artsy phrase wrote for our very dearest fashionista, Kate Moss!
And it’s not just a random phrase, it’s written on a painting! On Kate Moss’ self portrait! She drew herself for eternity when she was going strong with Pete Doherty, the modern poet. Pete actually sold the portrait with a hand receipt written, of course, on a napkin from Soho House, the private club. The buyer (unknown) sells the glorious piece of blood and lipstick art on paper to the highest bidder, in London’s auction house Lyon & Turnbull. It’s maybe not your average fashion subject, but it seems that blood art is considered somehow interesting. As far as I’m concerned, I think Kate’s art got what it deserved in the first place – being sold with a napkin receipt in a bar (I think I would actually have preferred it in lipstick). Do you fancy this portrait? Is it really artsy?

Emmy Awards 2008 – Nicollette Sheridan Wearing Angel Sanchez Dress
September 23rd, 2008 by kpriss
I couldn’t have let the occasion slip without telling you which was my favorite dress from the Emmy 2008 Red Carpet! It was Nicolette Sheridan’s Angel Sanchez.
Not only the purple dress looked stunning, but the lady herself was impressively good looking! She matched her Angel Sanchez with a necklace at the base of the neck, and her hair was falling down her shoulders in a simple blowout. She also kept her makeup simple, with mascara and khol and a natural toned lipstick. So that’s my best dressed and best styled of the night. Who was yours? (right after the image, you have two more thumbnails, click to enlarge them for a better view of Nicollette Sheridan’s Angel Sanchez dress and her makeup and hairstyle for the event)
Emmy Awards 2008 – Jennifer Love-Hewitt Wearing Carolina Herrera Dress
September 23rd, 2008 by kpriss
I know it has been some time now and everyone is going back to their normal lives, waiting the next roll of the Red Carpet, but I absolutely wanted to share with you my thoughts about… Jennifer Love Hewitt and her Emmy look.
I was impatient to see another fashion disaster on her but no! This time, Jennifer chose wisely and got herself a dress that could never be wrong signed by Carolina Herrera. Timeless, elegant and …well, simply beautiful! Now let’s get our eyes off that gorgeous dress and look up. To her face. Her hair! Did she fire her hair stylist? She wok up the very morning before the Emmy Ceremony and her hair went bam! because she was too nervous? Was she rehearsing for another Garfield movie? Oh, and that necklace? It’s a complete NO with this dress! (and that hair!!!) What’s your view on Jennifer’s hair?

Emmy Awards 2008 – Teri Hatcher Wearing Monique Lhuillier Dress
September 22nd, 2008 by kpriss
Teri dearest, whoever tells you to match yellow dress and plum lipstick because they’re wonderful together is a liar!
Besides showing your stick think figure, this dress really helps you in no circumstance. It puts your face in such a dreadful light that shows every day of your age, not to mention the damage your oh-so-skinny frame is doing to you. And that jewelry overexposure isn’t helping either. I chose the two most flattering images I could find, but even so, do you like this yellow Monique Lhuillier dress on desperate Teri?

Emmy Awards 2008 – Christina Applegate Wearing Reem Acra Dress
September 22nd, 2008 by kpriss
First of all, let it be known I deeply respect Christina’s fight and courageous decisions involving her breast cancer diagnosis. Well done, girl!
Second of all, what is it with all these gowns with remaining fabric you have to drag after you as wedding dress dream reminiscence? Christina’s Reem Acra looked bitter and uninspired to me. The print looks like accidentally tainted fabric, the dress is unattractive and ordinary for this Emmy Awards Ceremony. Not to mention the hair updo, too much for Christina’s face. If you like this dress, please tell me why and how to look at it so I could see its unspeakable beauty! (you can see a makeup and hairstyle closeup image right after the jump!)
Emmy Awards 2008 – Evangeline Lilly Wearing Elie Saab Dress
September 22nd, 2008 by kpriss
Everybody’s Lost sweetheart, Evangeline Lilly got her share of Red Carpet glam with an Elie Saab couture maxi dress. Also metallic only this time in light bronze, the dress was pretty simple with a slight retro air to it.
Her big natural smile and her uneasy pose helped me like her more than I was decided to credit her dress at first sight. Because even if the color may not attract as much, the metallic reflexes and the geometry of the design were like a razorblade outfit to my eyes. The same natural makeup and almost no accessories was the trend of the evening. And a special note about Evangeline’s hair – natural and lovely looking, no fuss, no extra styling, just beautiful! Do you like her Elie Saab dress? (you can see Evangeline’s hairstyle and makeup up-close in a picture right after the jump!)
