Fresh Cover Elle Netherlands October 2012 (Querelle Jansen)

As our dear friend, Riana, pointed out, Elle Netherlands has some pretty issues out there. Looking at their October 2012 issue, I can tell this: I love Querelle Jansen’s cover hair! It’s a haircut I’d love to adopt and could easily suit a wavy hair like mine (it looks like this anyway, minus the bangs, so the way I figured is that no matter how bad the haircut and how ill-fitting, if you put bangs on it, it makes it a hipster haircut. People will say: oh! She wanted it this way! And bam! You’re a hipster! Works like that, doesn’t it?)

Next: I love the cover’s colors combo. It’s fresh and joyful. Notice the Kenzo t shirt? It’s good. It means Kenzo is on to something and that they nailed the hipster niche alright! So. How do you like this pretty cover?

What Is A Hipster?

A while back, we mingled with the young people (yeah, I know, right?!). Anyway, these young students were talking about some of their colleagues and one of them asked if they were gay. The other replied: “nah, I think they’re just hipsters”. To which, other persons in our entourage (not the young people) whispered to me “what’s a hipster?”. Well, to them and to all of you who may ask: a hipster’s definition in prints from Cacomixl (click the image for better reading!)

Saskia De Brauw Covers Vogue Netherlands October 2012

Fashion covers. You can’t tie them to a specific season or see their reality ties. They just are. Fashionable. And stylish. Eye candy. Saskia De Brauw’s Dutch Vogue cover of the October 2012 issue looks like one of those stylish covers I admire but can’t pick a controversy on.

And we like our covers on the controversial side. Don’t we? Badly photoshopped, over cropped, poorly imagined and uninspiredly put together. So yeah, basically what’s left to do here is congratulate the fashion editor who put this together and to Saskia and the photographer who collaborated nicely towards a fashion job well done. There. I said it! (the image on the right is sublime and I hope it’s the subscribers cover as what you’re seeing here is actually the October 2012 preview from the September issue)

What Men Really Think About Fashion Shows. The Aaron Paul Edition

We talked about Aaron Paul in the past. I even recommended AMC’s Breaking Bad where you can see Aaron act alongside the amazingly talented Bryan Cranston in one of today’s most appreciated TV shows. But here’s another side of Aaron: the first row side! Aaron Paul watching a Fashion Show during the Fashion Week. What men think about Fashion Shows = *%^#%I@(*U%*Y@{&#*Y*R#@R… {VH1}

Katie Holmes Looks Lovely In Harper’s Bazaar Russia October 2012

Katie Holmes’ offensive continues in the media. She’s hoping to gain recognition as her own persona, instead of “Tom Cruise’s wife” as she was until just weeks ago, when she filed for divorce. Her pictorial for Harper’s Bazaar Russia October 2012 is a bit different from what she’s done in the past.

She’s not side – smiling in all the pictures, like she used to. She’s not playing vamp like she tried recently (remember Elle’s pictorial?). Gilles Bensimon’s photographs capture a nostalgically girly woman caught up in the seventies revival web. It’s way closer to reality than her previous work with various fashion magazines, isn’t it? (you can see more images over at tFS)

Simply Ruffles: Gucci Spring Summer 2013 Collection

Hello Milan! Get ready for one of the most feminine and sensual collections of the Fashion Week season! Gucci Spring Summer 2013 softens the Spartan simplicity of using block colors to express next season’s trends: ruffled edges, ruffled sleeves, ruffled back and washed out prints. Also the too – strong red turned into pink, the bright yellows translated into mustard – like tones while green turned emerald and cobalt blue switched to aqua. Simple yet convincing collection. {style}

Kate Moss And George Michael Do Vogue Paris October 2012

Kate Moss is so spoiled! Not only did she complain about not being in the supers video, when George Michael released Freedom 90 and she got to be in one of his music videos all by herself (remember, we talked about how strange it all was) but now she’s doing a Vogue cover alongside George Michael.

Vogue Paris October 2012 with Kate and George on the cover, as photographed by Mario Testino is the perfect example of bad cover gone worse. If we were already used to seeing Kate’s face over – photoshopped and ultra smoothened, now her retouching is nothing compared to what they did on George Michael’s face.

I hope the inside pictorial makes up for this disappointing, tabloid – like cover (thank you, VP for sharing this image!)

Jessica Chastain Beautiful Crash October 2012

(it’s time for an eye candy, something that’ll make me get over seeing Gaga like that) The beautiful Jessica Chastain graces the cover story pictorial for the French Magazine Crash, the October 2012 issue. I think her cover hair is an absolute mess, but there are some great pictures inside! {models details: Blossom Berkofsky Photographer, Renato Campora hairstylist, Isabel Dupre Fashion Stylist}
