Fall 2013 Versace Collection: Studded, Spiked, Nailed Egdy Fashion

Now that’s something we haven’t seen in a while! Since Rodarte 2008, that is! Spikes, studs, nails, anything that stings and looks like a thorn, it was right there, on the models catwalking down the Versace Fall 2013 Collection runway! Harnesses, necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings, it was all pointy.

Everyone is trying real hard to shove a ‘vunk’ idea up our fashionable little heads, swearing that the collection is actually a mix of punk and the usual Versace spices with just a pinch of edgy. However, I still see no novelty and no real innovation in a collection that’s mostly a trying – too – hard to escape the fetish clouds although all the thorns point in that precise direction!

But that edgy feeling is still something of a déjà-vu as the above – mentioned Rodarte maison proposed an interesting kind of jewelry using barb wire. That too was far from revolutionary, but clearly better than the Versace blings designed for Fall 2013.

There was spikes even on the lapels of the jackets or the bralettes. The boots were studded while the ankle boots had some serious metallic add-ons. Donatella Versace herself was wearing vinyl jeans assuring us all that they make her feel sexy. And I bet they do, it’s something staying at the base of fetish stores fashion for ages! Vinyl makes everyone feel sexy. For about 5 minutes…

I hate with passion zebra stripes, VINIL ( really Donatella ??), yellow and tartan.
Why did she just put all those together?
Tell me it is a nightmare.

Versace used to dress women as expensive hookies.
This season more like the cheap ones.

Ahhh, I should have used the word ‘hookies’…..I forgot to delete “and” in my former comment Guess what I said after “and”….;)

From now on I call Versace “Bunga Bunga Fashion”.
