Zoe Saldana’s Complex, December January 2009 2010

Zoe Saldana is the next big thing in my agenda. Not only she’s unearthly beautiful and appealing on screen, but she has that something that could make her big out there without sending her straight in the scandal pages too.

Mark Ecko’s Complex magazine brings Avatar’s Zoe Saldana on the December/January 2009/2010 cover. And I’m happy they did! (it’s a double cover issue, with the second cover held by Eminem) (the story continues right after the jump with more images and a behind the scenes video! You can see the gallery here!)

She made Star Trek and Avatar so far, two sci fi blockbusters (hopefully Avatar won’t be the flop everyone’s expecting it to be and James Cameron will deliver Titanic-ly!) so it was only natural that she’ll make a sci-fi-esque magazine shoot also. Complex is far from being shy when it comes to manipulating images for a designated purpose. And this issue, their main purpose is to suspend your breathing function while staring at Zoe Saldana. Or at least that’s my take on it!

And as I’ve said it before, Zoe reminds me so much of Thandie Newton, I can only hope she’ll get at least a similarly brilliant career also! The Complex photos look contemporary trendy, if we’re to consider shiny body armor pieces and thigh high boots a trend. Her extraordinary pantlessness, Lady Gaga will approve. Zoe poses like a true model and the set is glitzy enough to make it perfectly fit for Complex. How do you like Zoe Saldana’s December Complex? (you can check out the Eminem cover story here)

I am a big fan of Zoe’s and also of Thandie Newton. I am glad to see Zoe getting the attention, she is talented. : )

I had to browse IMDb to look up Zoe. Her face looks so familiar but that’s probably because of the mags/blogs and the promo for Avatar. Is it predicted as a big flop? Have I missed something? Oh, I was looking forward to see it…..
I came across Crossroads, with Britney Spears in the lead and all I remember is that Britney was not that bad but I do alas not remember Zoe at all.
So I’ve no clue…..I do like Thandi Newton a lot though. And if Zoe is that good as Thandi…..hmm….but I’m not really fond of this predictable shoot.

From what I have read of the reviews of the film so far, the critics seem to like it a lot. I don’t think it will be a big flop. I am going to see it mos def!
Adriana have you seen the films “Guess Who?” “The Terminal” and of course the new “Star Trek”?
These are some of the films that Zoe has been in and she received excellent reviews for her work.
Check them out if you can, they are all on DVD.

By the way that was very brave of you to watch Britney’s film, I could never have done it. ;)

I also love her and so far, she’s got a great sense of styling as well.

Ellington, I’m not a Startrek fan….Zoe is on my retina so I shall not miss her next time.
Britney’s film was on tv. So I thought “why not?” and watched it until the end. Still don’t remember much though only that I found Britney not that bad as I expected her to be. We’re often feed by our prejudice.

Ah, The Terminal! One of my favorite films ever! (though I can hardly identify one Tom Hanks movie that I didn’t adore!).

Poor Britney. She never was and never will be truly free (or herself). That makes me sad. For her and for her family.

She’d probably say the exact same thing about you if she knew you.

Speaking of Thandie Newton I can’t actually watch her onscreen – she is so painfully thin I’m scared on of her limbs’ll snap right before my eyes. Her face is skeletal – she looks so hungry.

Not everyone who’s skinny is hungry, you know? It’s obviously an exaggeration and I know you’ll come to realize, if you give it time and peace of mind, that (some) people are skinny just like others are rounder, pale or dark skinned and so on. It’s a common misconception induced by un-skinny people that in order to be thin you absolutely have to starve yourself.

Skinny is a visual illusion. One can be average weighted and still look skinny because of his/hers bones structure, muscular structure and construction. Others can appear bony because they have a prominent bones structure and so on.

I take your point. Thandie does have extremely delicate features and she might be watching her figure in Hollywood on top of that. My message was harsh cuz I wasn’t in a grand mood yesterday. Whoops
