Ellington, I'm glad you still love dogs and hopes you've no scarfs left, such a miserable experience.

Kpriss, but where lives the dog? Outside in his own "house"? Golden Retrievers needs a lot of discipline and are so homely and if well raised very good to handle? Golden Retrievers are beautiful dogs.

Ellington that's too much! I hope I wasn't insensitive about it! My kids love dogs and we have a Golden Retriever. It's a family dog, loves kids and is not allowed in the house. (we have to have some rules in our household, or else it's Iron Man's land!) The stories you told were horrific and I can only imagine the sadness!

Yes, from that point on, I see why you pend more towards cats! But there's much negativity surrounding them too. Both in real time happenings and mythology, as I'm sure you know too. I just think they're far less carrying and faithful than dogs.

Adriana it's an interesting initiative! And I hope she makes it right so she can have her very own furry copilot!

(have I told you that my kids simply looove the AristoCats? you can't beat the classics!)

Ellington, ha, I've known a very scary cat. He attacked people, scratched their legs, even bite them. The owners couldn't train that cat so they had to let him go to sleep forever after he wouldn't let go with his sharp mean teeth of the leg of his own boss! She was almost crippled for some time and needed also treatment against rabies.
Some cats can be very annoying!! Pfff....I had to get rid of one because he was too hard to handle. He ruined everything, he did his ehhhh, daily needs everywhere. I found the poor thing in a animal asylum. This one had to go to sleep forever also.
I had my dog Iggy for 11 years, a Dobermann, I can assure you he was one of the sweetest creatures that has been in my life, I've mourned him for a long time and sometimes I still miss those eyes looking at me. :(( He hasn't ruin a thing but he showed his teeth late at night to some people and that looked very scary but relieving for me though. I never walk the streets alone that comfy anymore in the evening.....no, no...

I can imagine though that having a childhood experience like that is devastating and traumatising. Yes, I stated it before: look always at the boss first! But you couldn't as little girl of course....:((

On a happier note, my best girl friend trains her cat now to get used to travel in the car! And he loves it. She wants to take him with her on a holiday in January. She feels sorry for him to be left alone at home with only someone that comes to feed him. He's also a poor thing from an asylum. But he's just weird not mean or ruin things. He cannot tell alas what the former owners has done to him....:((

I like dogs (some and only if they are well behaved and trained properly), but I prefer cats as they do not bother people and your rarely if ever hear of a horrific story about a cat mauling a child to death and or attacking someone. Sadly as a child I was attacked by a dog as I was walking in a park. That scared the daylights out of me, and I had the big scare of possible getting a rabies shot! The owner was not sure if he had had his dog inoculated for rabies. :( ( and no I did not do anything to provoke it, I was simply walking and its foolish owner had let it off its leash to run free.) So considering my experience I could dislike dogs a lot, but I don't,it is up to the owner to train their dog accordingly sadly a lot of them do not. :(
I think I like cats for their elegance and independence, and also for their mythical lore. :)
I like dogs but I do not like what they can do to one's shoes... I have seen it happen sadly. Also my friend's dog got into her bedroom and sadly chewed her wedding dress to shreds (it was lying on her bed). She did get a new one but it was a devastating moment. :(

I also am more into dogs and I miss a dog around me. But living in the centre of city at a appartment is literally "a dog's life". Sad enough.....:((

But I like cats too and for them goes the same as for dogs....:((

I used to have cats chez moi. At least one. Now I'm not a cat person anymore. I love dogs. They're so loyal and helpful. Cats, on the other hand, they're funny on tape. And that's about all they do for us. Like you said, Adriana, they do as they please most (all?) of the time...
