wow!!

firstly i am DELIGHTED that you love us so much !

ireland is a friendly and safe country full of our heritage and hospitality, the craic (an irish saying for fun) is everywhere as we as a race do not take ourselves to seriously. the sayings arn't true. we are not all alchoholic redheads, we have fun and hold our drink and in fact most of the people in my home county(galway)- and myself are has been described as with dark hair and pale skin.

dublin is nice as has been said but if you want real beauty and perfect scenery you'll want to head for the west. Galway is my home county and is full of old irish ways and friendlyness, connermara is beautiful with mountains and cliffs and seasides

Kpriss, you know me a bit by now I guess? Do you think I can wait until Inglourious Basterds is on dvd? One way or another: the film doesn't attracted me at all. I don't know why.....It's sold out here and I hate full cinema's with noisy people and popcorn. Oh America.....the new world has attached the old world a lot.....But great you've enjoyed the film. I would like to recommend your husband to watch "Das Leben der Anderen" among many others. This one won Best Foreign Language Film of the Year Oscar in 2007 or 2008?? Sebastian Koch, a man that makes me go GRRRR is so great in it. He's definitely one of my fave European actors. He has been the face for JOOP! A very handsome man. He is like old wine. His acting and his looks has become better with ageing.

Inglorious Basterds. Great Tarantino style entertainment. Hardly historical. We did loved one thing - Christoph Waltz. Impressive! really, really impressive!

As for Diane and Brad.. hm.. I can't really say too much, it'll be considered a spoiler ;)

You know, Adriana, I do want to see European movies. And I do believe they're wonderful. (and we do have a serious stack of European movies) but we rarely get to see them... My husband is a big fan of European movies. And more. I'm more caught up in the blockbusters swirl, so I'm to blame, mostly. Also time.

Ellington has a good point there: the culture of European cinema is highly conditioned by the mileage parting the Old and the New world! And the education.

Ellington, I know that of course. We are one of the few countries in the world that does use subtitles. I think hell break loose when they're gonna stop it! All other countries does hear never ever the real voices of actors. Or they don't hear any person speak at all because a voice-over translate everything they say.
It's educational too. I'm a fast reader and sometimes I do not even need to read the subtitles. Now and then I use Ceefax page 888 (textpage subtitles for the deaf or the hard hearing) on BBC when I've trouble to understand it.
Since Europe has so many languages and different cultures it's only more interesting to hear other voices the sound of another languages. When a European speak English I can often hear what their first language is.
I also think it's a lack of interest or laziness? Subtitles does learn one a lot you see. I don't need to explain that I hope?

We have a wonderful actress, Carice van Houten, I'm a big fan of hers. She's so damned talented, beautiful, stylish, she can even sing, Carice is multi talented. She has it all. And she's not been touched by nip/tucks. She's real. Tom Cruise saw her in Verhoeven's "Blackbook" and he wanted her and her fellow actress (in real life best friends) for "Valkerie" and she had small parts in two films one with DiCaprio and Matt Damon but I believe she has been cut out the one with DiCaprio. She was not impressed with Leo by the way. Matt was a nice guy and no bad word about Tom. She really liked him? If she says so......There was a wonderful photo of her -in that famous Vargas pose in Vanity Fair, no one paid attention to drop dead gorgeous fun Carice! Oh, she's Dutch, small country, accent...pff....why care? She's so much better than a lot of US bimbos! Arggh...well we keep her to ourselves so she can be who she is. So. That goes for many very talented people here. And they are never involved in sad or dirty cases. So maybe it's better this way.

I've found out when Heroes is broadcasted btw, very late at Saturday night. So that's the reason I've never noticed it.

LOL, imagine Inglourious Bastards in German? I would love to hear that. Diane Kruger shall dub her own voice by the way. She always does as it seems. She's fluent in 3 or 4 languages!!

Oh yes, our models are world wide known! But they don't speak they've only to be pretty!

Yes, it´s really sad you people do miss out on a lot off things. But so it is in lots of European countries too......

Well Adriana it has a lot to do if they are released over here or not.
Also a lot of them have to have subtitles and some people hate reading them. I myself don't mind it though. The only European films we do get here are the really big ones and they are often far and few between, so sadly we do miss out.

Sometimes I wonder why Americans and also Canadians never pay attention to a lot of great and beautiful European films. There's a lot of difference in approach. I think you people miss a lot you see.....
I'm not critical, just saying. Because I watched a beautiful French last night and thought: "They miss a lot there overseas......"
