ok so whatz wrong with what she was wearing? teens wear stuff like that and duh you’re suppose to wear a black bra under a white shirt. and for the pole and moves she was doing the moves fit the song and she had to hold on to the pole so she didn’t fall. the outfit she wore to perform in coulda been a bit less skimpy(shorty shortz and bra showin) but other than that i think everything was fine

her lips annoy me

A lot of girls that age looks like that. So yes, I believe that Miley is only 16. And to speak out frankly: tell me what’s the difference with also young(er) catwalk queens who look like mid 30 on the catwalks?

I used friend google: she’s almost 17……and indeed she has an annoying pout. But I like her booties.

Nope, she definitely looks older. Specially her “performance”. Not only it makes her look older, but cheap as well.
I’d say she’s around 21 if I didnt know her real age.

I was so appauled by her actions during the Teen Choice Awards. Now, she is a childrens performer, and she has told the world she is a good girl, but she has prozen herself wrong. Her shirt revealed her whole bra (has she ever herd of clear?) and yes, that was a pole dance, which was quite disturbing and stripperish. This is not what I would want my younger sister seeing, for Miley is a suposide rolemodle, sadly, she did for she watched the awards with me. Miley’s parents just watched and cheered as miley made herself look like a Britney Spears. I know my parents would have pulled me off that stage! I never really like her music but i had respect for her; but, that respect is gone.

As for The white shirt and skirt was fine nothing wronge there,heck i probably have that same shirt in my closet! Don’t be so jumpy to judge, I was just very peeved over the teenchoice awards.

Is that the way of all Hollywood teen girls? To look and appear older than you are?
Miley is trying to be sexy now as she is growing up. She wants a more adult image.
I don’t know if it is working though.

She wore like a normal teenager (this outfit is quite naff but lots of girls dress like that).

@Adriana:
The diference between she and young catwalk models is the target group.
Miley has millions of fans, mostly girls between 8 and 14 who want to be like her and if it isn’t weird that a 16 year-old wears a white tank top and a mini-mini skirt, a girl of 10 (for example) wearing this outfit would be inappropiate (and weird).
Those young catwalk models hasn’t the same public and they have to look older!

@.s:
Target group or not 17 = 17 years old.

@s.: Read the reply by Cringilla at the Miley Cyrus piece……I just did…. I think that young girls does look up to young models. I’m sure about it!

#12 s. on 08.13.09 at 2:18 pm

@Adriana: I understand what you mean that’s why I said that her outfit suits with her age ( I think I didn’t explain it well (language troubles and limited vocabulary)) but anything she does will be imitated by legions of fan girls which, most, are younger than her. What I mean is that she is most followed than new and young models who are less famous ( at least in Spain).

I’m sure that young models like Chanel Iman or Agyness Deyn are very famous but they didn’t have the same “power” like M.Cyrus.

Also, I’m looking for the Reply by Cringilla and I can’t find any related to Miley Cyrus so I imagine that is Kate Moss piece : )

I agree with you and I must admit that K.Moss is a role model to me in fashion terms, I don’t care about her private life but, if we have to compare, M.Cyrus seems more responsible than K.Moss and also she has their parents taking care of her (plus Miley’s father was famous before so he knows better about the celebrities’ world dos and don’ts).
Anyway, not all the models who started young end(ed) like Kate, look Natalia Vodianova!

PS: I think I don’t forget anything, it’s a long comment! (sorry).

@s.
Hola! I’m Dutch so I’ve often troubles to express myself and so I end up in looooooong replies with an opinion I can write short and to the point in my own language.
I get your drift but I still think those fashion models are too young and it’s crazy that beautiful women (except some supers) have to “retire” while they begin to blossom in the prime of their life! That’s medieval argh……
I’m afraid though young girls do look up to Kate and Lily. I’ve only to look around in town….

I’m watching the great US series Mad Men at the moment. At a certain point the 50+ old boss of the firm fighting with his midlife crisis sits with one of (most handsome) and best PR-man of the firm in a bar watching two great looking ladies. Apparently over the hill because, crying out loud, they are over 30! Then he said: “It’s like the lights get out when ‘they ‘ are 30”. Right…….but then the men go back to the office after their lunch with a lot off alcohol and oysters and the elevator is defect. So they have to take the 23 stairs up. LOL and then the “lights got out” for the 50+ idiot, he hardly can take the 23 stairs and vomit when he’s up in front of the clientele! Karma!

O jee, you see too long and what’s my point exactly? I had a phonecall in between….oh, yeah I stick to my point models starts to young. First a proper education. Like 18 would be great. Girls have something to go back too. A proper basic. What can Kate do? Not much than rely on uncle Phil (Green) and celebrity life which she can enjoy with her bank account actually I think it’s a bit of a sad life……

@Adriana:
Yes, I get what you want to say, and I agree completely, I’m almost eighteen ( this October I start collage) and I can’t imagine myself doing a job like that and keep my mind in “the right place” or being a role model for nobody.

Young celebrities will still there for long time because they catch the attention of children and teenagers ( include myself, I’m a huge fan of Keira Knightley and she is just 24).

Fortunately, I think that now models will start to retire older and this Mad Men’s women beauty stereotype will die, for give some example, Gisele Bündchen is almost 30 and she was on a catwalk lately and Heidi Klum is 36 and last year , if I’m not wrong, was on Victoria’s Secret Show!

Tschüss! (gosh, 4 years studing dutch and I can only say hello, bye, sorry and order a simple meal LOL)

#17 Adriana on 08.14.09 at 4:06 am

You’ve studied 4 years Dutch? Really? Tschüss! is German! Well, I’ve lived for 7 months in Spain (Ibiza) and all I still can write Hola! and some more words I can say but not write. I scream the nice ones to Fernando Alonso during F1 races. Alas not next Sunday in Valencia….sniff, sniff…..mi demasiado corazon. Ehh, not sure if this is right…..lol!

About the Mad Men’s beauty/youth thing I believe there’s more pressure on women, so also girls and beauty and getting older then ever. That some models can go on are exceptions to the rules. But that theory will give another loooooooong story. But in short: can you or anyone explain why 60 year old Twiggy is not allowed to look her age? And is photoshopped until she looked 25? So Miley 17 and Twiggy 60 does look the same age! That’s insane!

A anecdote. The Cut published a photo of Anna Wintour in a sleeveless dress some commenters suggested that her arms looked like Madonna’s. So a bit cynical and more so for fun I wrote: “Older women should cover up their arms”. In no time not my comment was removed but the photo exchanged for a photo of Anna in ensemble with long sleeves! :D :D :D…..I wasn’t even really serious….oh dear…..
