I think Daniel looked great on that picture. It was a part of the play. It had a good reason. It was not shocking or ugly. So why raising eyebrows? Look how women are portrayed for fashion these days…..I see not much fashion in it anymore. Only the message that our mission in life is to be sexy…..Just a thought.

I admire actors who do their homework further than reading the script. And even if I forced a comparison with Natalie Portman, I admit Emma Watson is not yet that perfectionist and praise worthy (and yet to prove herself big time) so I may have expressed too much enthusiasm in her direction.

As for Daniel Radcliffe he seems to be genuinely interested in really acting his way around (though that nude pictorial he did not long ago really raised my eyebrows sky high).

…..and now I feel I’ve written a useless piece: I agree with Ellington. Haha, especially about the age of being an adult. (It’s 18 in the Netherlands.)
I had some doubts about Closer and wasn’t really impressed with any part really. Natalie should have doing her research, which I’m all for, with real troubled persons not with a university professor now I see what I missed in that part she came close(r) but not really….thank you Kpriss for this info.

Oh Kpriss, this is a “lost in translation case” it’s not the money I was aiming at. Money can be a factor though to become lazy. Lazy to prove anything really. One needs fire and passion inside too for what you’re doing. But the fact that she’s yet admired and a star as well in film as fashion and has proved anything really. She’s chosen for this campaign because of her name and fame. Why else? Also HP fans grow up so there’s a new market to explore for fashion brands. Now I wish that trend would go away as much as wish the trend for trends would go away. The one season hysteria. I’m off-topic now….
Anyway I just wonder can I ever take her serious as an actress having her fashion image burned on my retina? I’ve seen her on photos clubbing in Rodarte yet. So to me she has a lot to prove. Because I’ve only seen Hermione in trailers and lots of Emma as a fashion icon. To me she’s a model in fact! You see ladies I’m a HP and also LOTR illiterate. I’ve only seen the first LOTR movie and felt asleep. Couldn’t get myself through LOTR I’ve tried that since I was like 15 and I tried HP too since the ex-husband was addicted to HP…….I tried really because I saw so many people around me being mesmerized that I thought I miss something very special!!
Back to the topic I think that the careers of some young actors in the entertainment business have not a real change to grow because all goes so fast and these people are so used up before they’ve a change to grow really I’m afraid…..It’s so obvious to me that Daniel Radcliff has real passion for acting. If you read what he’s doing with his talent yet. Maybe he’s lucky he’s not the fashion pretty boy face but has a more interesting look?
Have you any idea how I fight with your language ladies? Have I made myself clear? I love, love disputes without getting angry at each other too you see not to agree persé but it’s so interesting to learn and grow….we never should stop doing that is a firm belief here.

Well there are those who are educated and talented like Jodie Foster. And those who do come from a privileged background of wealth like for example Anderson Cooper, who do something with their life rather than being a rich kid with issues. I have yet to see anything of the like from Emma. Yes I said she is an adult, legally she is at 19 (in Canada she is). As for maturity I don’t know as I am of the mind that no one really matures until they have hit 30. ; )
She is for me just a pretty young woman who has been blessed to have landed a gold mine role of playing Hermione for 7 books.
As for Natalie Portman’s “studied” performance for Closer which was fantastic. It is of no surprise that she did research into her character’s psyche many actors do. Daniel Day Lewis for example is also an an actor of the “studied” ilk.
That is what sometimes creates a rounded and realistic performance. Why would you fault/critique her for doing that?
Simply put Kpriss you think Emma Watson is simply wonderful and I do not. For me she has not done anything to merit such adoration. I do not dislike her, I am simply not impressed, until she maybe does something that is worthy of being impressed of.

We still have to wait since her educational path seems to be taking her elsewhere and not in the theatrical arena. And I tend to disagree that 19-years old is an adult age, even if teenagers grow up so quickly nowadays!

I was given to understand, after some reading I’ve done a while back (I’m so sorry I can’t remember the exact source) that Natalie Portman’s Closer role (which I completely absolutely loved!) was worked out and thoroughly studied and cautiously planned with a university professor (of psychology if I’m not mistaking) because she wanted it (the character) to be troubled in a realistic kind of way. Planned troubled. Just for the record, I like Natalie Portman, as a performer, very much. As a person, I admire her privacy and tendency to live a normal, average live, not dressing in the glam-celeb-code, not giving in to the high life pressure.

And to continue setting the record straight – Emma Watson has been so affected by those who take only her physical side into consideration and praise her for being somewhat fashionable that I’m afraid she’ll never grow from this point of view. It’s too easy being fashionable when everybody (even the Kaiser) courts you. They tell you what to wear, how to pose and where to be to stay on the fashwave. I’m rather skeptical when it comes to her real fashion self. As for her acting, it could fall apart if she continues being a fashion something… (I can’t find her a true category since she’s somewhat cleverly inbetween right now).

Adriana, I doubt rich people don’t have to prove themselves anymore just because they’re rich. That’s how they become just daddy’s rich girl/boy for all their life. Au contraire, I feel it’s more challenging to see a young rich person like that trying to make a living and something out of her/himself like there wasn’t all that pile of money in the backyard just waiting to be spent!

On hold for what???? Who is waiting? Emma is now an adult.
Dakota Fanning and Abigail Bresslin have already proven themselves as up and coming actors and they are still minors. And I don’t find Natalie Portman’s choices too scientific or too mathmatical? I have no idea where you derive that argument from Kpriss?
If you look at the other members of the HP cast Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint have done different roles on stage and film, All I have seen of Emma is her Hermione and her being touted as some kind of fashion icon. Like I have mentioned she is pretty but so are a lot of other young women in her field. How long does one have to wait? Really and why?
Yes Kpriss I am not impressed as she has not done anything as yet for me to really be impressed by. Also Adriana raises an interesting point of contention. I think that we will have to agree to disagree about Emma Watson for now. :)
