McQ Alexander McQueen for Target Collection Goes Like This…

If you can find Roberto Cavalli or Rei Kawakubo’s Comme des Garçons over at Hennes and Mauritz, what can you find over at Target?

Alexander McQueen! It’s a long time favorite of mine, ever since he was only l’enfant terrible des catwalks. Now, a confirmed successful designer, Alexander McQueen was contracted by Target to do an affordable fashion line. This Haute Street Fashion, as I like to call it, it was labeled McQ Alexander McQueen for Target and it used Liela Moss, a British music icon for muse. Scheduled for March 2009, the collection is mainly black & white palette, with gray, tan, and bright pink cobalt blue accents. The first pictures look amazing (even if I wish the red Christian Louboutin shoes would’ve been part of the McQ Alexander McQueen for Target collection too). Do you think this collection will be more convincing than H&M’s designer collection? (via wwd)

First of all I’ve never heard of Target. But McQ doing a High Street collection at affordable prices is welcoming news.

I’ve read that some time ago. Interesting. I’m yet there that it doesn’t impress me anymore. To me it sounds like they’ve found more profits…but if that works with the state off the current economy? We’ll see….
Interesting, a reall “Moss-rock icon”! I’d never heard, until my surprise off this band. Had to google them up. I’ve read what kind of bands they are related too, some bands I really love: so up to YouTube to see what’s this muse is like….

Dolly Bird, Target is like a kind off C&A in the US? Kpriss, correct if I’m wrong? Isaac Mizrahi has designed for Target too.

I wonder if Target have outlets in Scotland or Wales.
I had a laff thinking it was Jim Bowen’s Bullseye when I first saw the name!

It will sell like the other cheaper produced fashion lines like at H&M.
It looks nifty and yes Kpriss I would love to have those red Louboutin shoes! : )

I’m so surprised I didn’t know this band! I love them. Yes, this “Moss” really rocks!
English bands are the best. They are very influenced by some other bands, of course Velvet Underground too.Never mind I’ve yet some fave numbers.

Loves Liela’s own look better than this styled look. Noticed the Debbie Harry hair? Dark on the back?

I like the Dukes too. And Liela’s voice is pretty interesting (feels like a mix of Debbie and Nina Persson to me). The photo shoot is maybe thought neutral for those who haven’t heard of Liela Moss and don’t know what she stands for. So they made her model…

The sadness in all this affordable haute street couture is that anyone and everyone gets to wear some truly interesting and stylish pieces. And not necessarily in the right ways of fashion. The next day you walk on the street and see a Stella there, a McQueen here, some Rei on the side and so on and so on. Industrialized fashion. Don’t think about what you have to wear, we’ll rip off the catwalks for you and tag them with some tiny itsy bitsy prices! All you have to do is pay and wear!

Oh, and those Louboutins… I tried to find them, just out of curiosity. At least for a better look… anyone found them yet?

Kpriss, I agree with you on the celeb-collaboration with highs-street chains. Its label “uniform” for label-freaks to me and after all still H&M. Tho I’ve nothing against H&M, TopShop, Zara i.e.

Liela yes, there’s some Nina Piersson (what has happened to that girl?) as well as Alison “VV” Mosshart and some Nico too…anyway, thanks for my new joy!
