Madonna’s Interview April 2008

When I posted about Madonna doing Dazed and Confused in April, I didn’t thought her insatiable self will also hit Interview magazine.

And not just because it’s another boxing-looking-Madgesty that I’m gonna pass this one out! This time we’re also graced with fragments of actual interview from the upcoming number of the magazine. Interview’s Ingrid Sischy brought Madge to talk about her last album, her adopted son, her daughter and Africa. It all sounds so interesting! Until you get to actually read the lines – Madonna talks about having “psychoanalytic sessions” when writing songs with Justin JT Timberlake for her Hard Candy new album.

For her adopted son “it’s not even a possibility” that he would have survived if it wasn’t for her Madgesty! She’s living such a blissful life that “we have to have our noses rubbed in other people’s pain and suffering to realize how much we have and how much we have to be grateful for.” – now, now, Madonna, there’s no need to be so harsh on yourself! You’ve worked hard for everything you have, the only sad part is that you don’t see the height you’re at now and you absolutely have to hit concrete to see where you’re falling from!

Anyway, when she was to Malawi, she brought Lourdes along and the girl worked for 8 hours in an orphanage with HIV infected newborns. Kinda risky, Madge! She’s a little girl, even if you’re letting her have her nails done… “why am I babying her so much? She’s capable of so much more.” Mmwell, if social assistance hears you and takes your word on that, you’re as enrolled for child exploitation.

The last fragment we’re graced with it’s about freedom! I’m just going to quote it entirely:

Freedom is a funny word because when we think we’re free, we’re not really. I think freedom is quite illusory… When I stop thinking about myself all the time and put other people before me on a regular basis, that’s real freedom. When I can love unconditionally… then that’s real freedom. So it’s something to strive for, but I’m not free.

Now the first phrase – I read it over and over and can’t bring myself to make a sense out of it. Second phrase? Cliché. The third phrase is not about freedom, Madge, it’s about stop being selfish. The next one too. I can see why you’re not free… you don’t even know the meaning of the word, so the concept must elude you completely!

I’m curious about the complete interview, if it’s all like this or we have had the highlights, the best of her Madgesty? Because on the cover I see a cornered woman in a boxing ring with Chanel boxing accessories, legs widely spread (couldn’t she have chosen another boots for this shooting? I mean using the same theme and the same clothes for two appearances in the same month in two different magazines?) Rather deceiving.

What do you say? About the picture, about the fragments of interview?
