No I don’t think she is being paranoid, she does have a point.
But it is true you will probably not get many models of colour speaking out because they do not have the clout.
I would love to see more Black, Asian and Native American models to name a few ethnicities. Diversity is a thing of great beauty!

Maybe Naomi is frustrated she’s not hot property any more or maybe her recent interviews with socialist political icons in the South/central America has inspired her to be more political.

In reply to Kiara indeed Giselle is from a mixed country where the majority is almost black and even there in their own country you don’t see a mixture of models on their catwalks.

As for Naomi I would take her more serious if she should apologize about the fuss she made in the past because Ms. Campbell wanted to be the only black model around! No competition. She made Tyra Banks life like hell back in the days.
Oh yes it is great she speaks out now but although she has forgotten about something she has a point.

I don’t get it why this is what it is and I never will…..

Naomi may be many things but she’s right on target with this issue. And you raised a good question about which of new models would risk their career to fight against the virtually colorless runways. It just isn’t going to happen. For one thing, models don’t get paid like the supermodels did and they just wouldn’t take the risk. With the exception of someone like Giselle, a white model from a very mixed country (but that’s a different topic altogether).

I have to give Naomi props for speaking out. And thank goodness for Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington for doing their part back in the day!
