Olivier Theyskens drew this sketch the first days spent at Nina Ricci wanting to create a spiral sensation, like the dress would take off on its own. The dress was presented as part of the Spring-Summer 2007 Collection.
Said to be inspired by the very bottle of “L’Air du Temps”, this dress hits me like an urban fairy tale.
It’s supposed that every little girl dreams about her wedding day, the day she’ll get to wear a crinoline dress and look like a princess.
I don’t recall dreaming about crinolines or wedding days, yet this gown is so princess-like to me that it contradicts my memory.
It looks like a doll’s dress after years and years, like it was forgotten somewhere and survived an atomic bomb attack.
Makes me think about window curtains. Old window curtains.
Lots and lots of thoughts come to me when looking at this Nina Ricci dress. What about you? What do you feel when looking at it? (just lay back, try to empty your mind and pick the first thing that comes to you!) ..
oh, I have to admit that my kids are asleep, so I actually could take that lay-back-empty- your-mind attitude! Wish you could do the same!
